Sell where sustainability is proven
Mellow is a marketplace for sustainable clothing makers — labels working in real materials and fair supply chains, launching across India, beginning in Bengaluru. You'll sell alongside brands who hold the same standard, on a shelf shoppers can trust: everything here is verified before it's listed, so your work speaks for itself.

Why we verify
“Sustainable” stopped meaning anything
When every label calls itself green and almost none of it is checked, the word does no work. Regulators keep finding the same thing — most claims can’t be backed up. The shopper carries the risk, and the makers who actually do the work get lost in the noise.
There’s an opposite truth, too: Indian shoppers report one of the highest willingness-to-pay premiums in the world for sustainability they can trust — around 20% more, by Bain’s measure. Verification is how a small brand actually earns it.

Whose side we’re on
A small maker shouldn’t lose for doing it right
Fast fashion isn’t an accident — it’s what the market rewards. Speed, volume and the lowest possible price pull every label toward the same race, and the makers who refuse it are left carrying higher costs and a promise no one can check.
Those are the makers we’re building for: small brands working in real materials and fair supply chains, sharing the same mindset and doing the slower, harder, honest thing while the larger market pushes the other way.
Mellow puts the one thing that race can’t fake on their side — proof. Verification turns a maker’s integrity into something a shopper can see and pay for, so choosing to do it right stops being the reason they lose.
Verified before listing
Every claim on your label, checked before it hangs
Before a piece is listed on Mellow, every claim on its label is matched to the evidence behind it — certifications confirmed with the issuing body, supply-chain documents, materials declarations. What passes gets the stamp and ships with its report.
What doesn't pass doesn't go on the shelf. That gate is the product.

What every check covers
On the garment
- Fibre content — matched to mill and supplier declarations, so “100% organic cotton” has to be documented end to end.
- Chemicals & dyes — documented for the finished piece, from restricted-substance compliance to the dyes actually used.
Behind the garment
- Certifications — validated with the body that issued them, not read off a printed logo.
- Supply chain — traced through supplier declarations, invoices and material documents.
- Label claims — every public claim matched to the specific evidence behind it.
From your studio to a shelf people trust
Three steps, in the order they happen.
- 01 · Apply
Tell us what you make
Apply with your brand, your materials, and the claims on your labels. It takes about ten minutes, and every application is read by a person.
- 02 · Verify
We check before anything is listed
Every claim on your products goes through evidence review — fibre and materials declarations, certifications validated with the body that issued them, supply-chain documents. Nothing goes on the shelf unverified.
- 03 · Sell
Your pieces carry the stamp
Your clothing goes live with the Mellow verified stamp and its report. You keep making; we bring the audience that trusts the label.
The difference
Most marketplaces check the brand. We check the garment.
Trust on a marketplace is only as good as the moment it decides to look. Here’s where that moment falls today — and what it actually inspects.
Social & generalist storefronts
List first
Anyone can open a shop; “sustainable” is whatever the seller decides to write.
- Checked
- Only if a shopper complains
- Proof
- The seller’s own word
Curated marketplaces
Vetted on claims
Brands are screened on their story and the certificates they already hold.
- Checked
- Once, when the brand joins
- Proof
- The brand’s claims and existing badges
Mellow
Verified before listing
- Checked
- Before every listing, on each product
- Proof
- Evidence checked against the garment itself
A fair sketch of how sustainable marketplaces work today — described by model, with no single brand named. Curated marketplaces do real vetting; our difference is checking each product itself, before it lists.
For our founding makers
Be one of our first ten makers
We’re onboarding a small first cohort — ten makers, one at a time, starting in Bengaluru. Joining before the shelf is full is a real leap of faith, so it should come with real advantages. Founding makers get better terms, a genuine say in how Mellow works, and recognition that stays with them.

A founding commission, locked in
A reduced commission for being early — and it doesn’t rise when later makers’ rates are set. You take the risk of going first, so the rate that rewards it stays yours.
A hand in how Mellow works
A direct line to the people building the platform. You help shape how verification, listings and payouts work — we make the final call, but founding makers are the first voice in the room.
Onboarded by us, in person
No ticket queue. We walk your first pieces through application and verification ourselves — collecting samples, checking evidence, getting the report right alongside you.
First through verification
Founding lots go to the front of the queue, so your pieces are checked, stamped and on the very first shelf before anyone else’s.
The founding-maker mark
A lasting founding-maker credit on your storefront — a small, honest note that you were one of the first to prove it, kept long after the introductory period ends.
For makers
Questions makers ask
Straight answers, before you spend ten minutes on an application.
What does it cost to sell on Mellow?
Nothing to apply, and nothing to register interest. We’re still setting fees alongside our first makers, and you’ll see the whole structure before you commit to anything — no surprises, no lock-in.
How long does verification take?
It depends on how much evidence a claim needs and how quickly certifying bodies and suppliers confirm it — some of that is outside our hands. Rather than quote a number we can’t promise, we give you an expected timeline for your specific products when you apply.
What happens if a product doesn’t pass?
It doesn’t get listed — that’s the whole point of the gate. But a fail isn’t a dead end: you get the report showing exactly what didn’t match, so you can fix it and resubmit. We’d rather help you get there than quietly put it on the shelf.
Which certifications do I need?
None, to apply. We review recognised standards — GOTS, OEKO-TEX, Fairtrade, GRS — alongside your own supplier documents, then match each of them to the claims on the label. Each certificate only covers one slice, so verification weighs the whole garment rather than trusting a single badge.
Who actually does the checking?
We do — and we don’t take a claim on your word or a printed logo. Certificates are confirmed with the body that issued them, and supply-chain claims are traced back through supplier declarations and invoices. Every claim on the report says exactly which evidence stands behind it.
Do I have to be in Bengaluru?
Not for long. We’re opening across India, and starting in Bengaluru so we can work closely with our first makers — collect samples, check evidence, get verification right — before we widen city by city. Wherever you are in India, register now and we’ll tell you the moment your city opens.
Another question? Register interest and ask us directly when we write back.
